Introduction to Sock Knitting

Minimum of 2, maximum of 4 students

Standalone workshop

Note this is not a beginners workshop - you must be able to cast on, cast off, and have basic knitting skills plus the ability to knit in the round on DPNs or with the magic loop technique.

In this 2-hour workshop, Jane from GardeningWitch Designs will show you the anatomy of a sock and how a knitted sock is constructed.

You will apply this knowledge to knit a mini sock as a decoration, for which a pattern will be provided.

Circular needles or double pointed needles (DPNs) and DK yarn will be available for use during the workshop, but if you want to bring your own supplies you will need a 4mm circular needle (80cm or 100 cm in length), or a set of 4mm DPNs, and DK yarn of your choice.

Needles and yarn will also be available for purchase at the workshop.

Turning a heel

Short row shaping

Grafting a toe

Pattern:

Mini sock with 2 heel and 2 toe variations.
