A Decade Later: Three Minute Warning Film Screening & Palestinian Cultural Evening

Join Hannah Spencer for a moving evening of community, film, literature, and art in solidarity with Palestine. All proceeds from this event will go to the Middle Eastern Children’s Alliance (MECA), supporting vital projects on the ground for children and families.

This special evening brings together powerful Gazan voices, beautiful artistry, and exceptional food to mark a decade since the Three Minute Warning film by Iqbal Mohammed. It’s an opportunity to listen, connect, and directly support Palestinian creators, writers, and families both in Gaza and right here in Levenshulme.

'Enter the Mulberry Tree' Exhibition
View stunning pieces from an international Palestinian comic art exhibition, featuring the works of twelve incredible artists who explore personal identity, geopolitics and the nuances of everyday life in Palestine. Option to purchase artwork available. 

Handmade embroidery
Display of traditional Palestinian embroidery created by women displaced from Gaza. There will also be a display dresses crafted by a beloved artisan and MECA partner who was tragically martyred early in the conflict. Option to purchase artwork available.

Comma Press book stall
Browse powerful literature from local publisher Comma Press, including a selection of books about Palestine and a new publication featuring four Palestinian women’s accounts of the conflict.

Palestinian food
Enjoy authentic Palestinian food prepared by Dalloul, Haytham and Loai Al Neder. Formerly the chefs behind the local Royal Grill House here in Levenshulme, they are returning to the kitchen to serve fresh falafel, traditional hummus, Palestinian salad, fresh bread, and Palestinian desserts. Gluten-free and vegan options available.

Voices of Resistance
Celebrated Gazan journalist and writer Sondos Sabra (The Guardian, The New Statesman) will read from Voices of Resistance, Diaries of Genocide (Comma Press), a vital collection of first-hand diaries documenting the ongoing reality in Gaza.

Film Screening 7.30-8.00pm

A screening of the film Three Minute Warning, followed by a discussion, marking it's 10 year anniversary.

In Palestine, a 14 year old girl called Mariam cares for her disabled mother. One night, an Israeli "knock-on-roof" bomb is dropped onto their building allowing them only three minutes to escape before it is demolished. A film by Iqbal Mohammed

Poetry 8.00pm-8.30pm

Shams & Ghaym (The Sun and The Cloud)
Palestinian poets and UCL scholars Reem Hamadaqa and Amna Shabana will perform moving illustrated poetry accompanied by stunning projections of their own visual art, exploring memory, home, and displacement
