People's Emergency Briefing - community film screening

Mon 1 Jun 2026 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM BST Hanover Community Centre, 33 Southover Street, Brighton, BN2 9UD

The film brings together the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis, and what it means for the UK. It is designed to be watched in communities like this one, encouraging responses proportionate to the crisis. Hanover Action are collaborating with Greenpeace Brighton to host the film.

About the National Emergency Briefing

The National Emergency Briefing, held in Westminster Central Hall in November and was attended by 1,200 MPS, peers and leaders across UK society. The event brought together senior experts to present a clear, evidence-based account of the risks facing the UK and the scale of response required.

The People's Emergency Briefing is a film created for communities across the UK and is being screened in 100s of locations. You can watch the trailer here.

Agenda for those attending:

  • There will be a series of short questions before and after the screening (accessed via a QR code) contributing to a UK wide sample of peoples' thoughts and responses to the film (run and analysed by the University of Bath).
  • There will be a short facilitated discussion on the audience responses, and actions we can take collectively and individually.
  • Our elected representatives have been invited to attend. They may be in the room too.

Notes:

  1. The film-makers don't recommend the film for under 16s. The age of 16 has been chosen because 16 year olds will have the vote from next election.
  2. The film will be subtitled to maximise accessibility.
  3. There will be occasional swearing (in the film).
