Where AI really saves money, and where it doesn’t
Over September and October, we sat down with 18 Australian businesses, from a church with three staff to a packing and freight business with 124. We looked at where they spend their time and money, and where AI could help.
Some of what we found surprised us. The savings were real, but modest for any one business: typically an estimated 750 to 970 hours of work a year that could be automated. The AI receptionist everyone is marketing was turned down by about 14 of the 18. And most owners chose to train their own people before buying any technology.
