Nature Writing for Wellbeing

Free creative workshop for adults

Join Lancashire-based writer, Janelle Hardacre, for a gentle afternoon of mindful writing exercises inspired by the natural world.

No prior writing experience is necessary and all adults are welcome. Please come as you are!

In the workshop, you will experience the wellbeing benefits of expressive writing and nature connection.

The activities will encourage curiosity and playfulness. The workshop is not about completing stories, poems or essays to be shared - but getting our creative juices flowing.

Location: Haworth Art Gallery 124 Hollins Ln, Accrington BB5 2JS

Set in beautiful gardens and grounds, our location will help to inspire some of our writing prompts.

These workshops are kindly funded by Hyndburn Borough Council's Culture and Heritage Grants.

Your questions answered:

Do I need to bring anything?

Please bring whatever you prefer to write with. Paper and a pen or a device is fine (make sure it's fully charged as there are no plug sockets).

Other than that, just bring yourself. We may venture outside so please dress appropriately for the weather.

Will I have to read out my work?

No you don’t. There are no expectations with this workshop. But if you would like to, there will be an opportunity to share

Do I have to stay for the whole class?

No. Please do whatever feels right for you. But please do book onto the class so we know to expect you.

I’m not very creative, is this for me?

Absolutely! This workshop is for you. You don’t need any particular experience or skills to attend and hopefully enjoy the activities.

I’m not great at spelling and grammar, is that okay?

Definitely. We are releasing all judgements and rules in these workshops. They’re about self-expression. So spelling, grammar and neat handwriting are not required!

Can children come?

No. This series of workshops are just for adults aged 18 and above. Thank you for your understanding.

Where is the venue and is it accessible?

124 Hollins Ln, Accrington BB5 2JS

The Haworth provides disabled access. There is free parking and a nearby bus stop. You can find directions to Haworth Art Gallery and access information here.

Do I need to bring a ticket or booking confirmation?

No. Once you’re booked on via the online link your space is secured. Just come along on the day and I look forward to meeting you.

Do I need to go to all four workshops?

No. This is series of four workshops funded by Hyndburn Council. They work individually or as a series so you’re welcome to attend just one, some or all of them. All the content will be new at each one.
