Designed by PUP Architects in collaboration with site operators The Ubele Initiative CIC and Black Rootz, Eat Wood Green has transformed a previously unused balcony at Wood Green Library into a new food growing and education space, bringing community-focused food growing activity from the iconic Wolves Lane Horticultural Centre onto the high street. The project enables local families and children to learn about food growing, nature, biodiversity, healthy eating and wellbeing, imparting lifelong skills of how to 'grow your own'.
The project has been funded by Haringey Council and the GLA as part of the High Streets for All challenge, with operational seed funding provided by The Ubele Initiative CIC. The construction was delivered by Enfield-based company BLOQS Create, who utilised innovative off-site fabrication methods and employed local tradespeople to transform this unusual site
