Može li jedan čovek zaustaviti rat?

Leto je 1991. godine. Dok Jugoslavija klizi ka krvavom raspadu, načelnik osječke policije Josip Reihl-Kir pokušava ono što se tada činilo gotovo nemogućim - da pregovorima spreči rat. Nekoliko meseci kasnije biće ubijen.

Kroz arhivske snimke i svedočenja ljudi koji su bili tamo, Mirotvorac rekonstruiše događaje koji su prethodili njegovom ubistvu i postavlja pitanje koje ni više od tri decenije kasnije nije izgubilo na značaju: da li je rat mogao biti izbegnut?

Novo ostvarenje jednog od najznačajnijih hrvatskih dokumentarista, Ivana Ramljaka, osnivača Human Rights Film Festivala i autora filmova El Shatt i Once Upon a Youth. Film je osvojio Zlatnu golubicu za najbolji međunarodni dokumentarni film na festivalu DOK Leipzig, kao i niz najvažnijih nagrada u regionu.

Posebno nas raduje što će Ivan Ramljak biti gost prvog izdanja HARMLESS Film Festivala i što ćemo imati priliku da ovaj izuzetni film pogledamo zajedno sa njegovim autorom.

Can one man stop a war?

Summer, 1991. As Yugoslavia slides toward a bloody collapse, Osijek police chief Josip Reihl-Kir attempts what already seemed almost impossible at the time - to prevent war through dialogue and negotiation. A few months later, he would be assassinated.

Through archival footage and testimonies of those who were there, Peacemaker reconstructs the events leading up to his murder and asks a question that remains just as relevant more than three decades later: could the war have been avoided?

The latest film by one of Croatia’s most important documentary filmmakers, Ivan Ramljak, founder of the Human Rights Film Festival and director of El Shatt and Once Upon a Youth. The film won the Golden Dove for Best International Documentary at DOK Leipzig, along with a number of major awards the region.

We are especially happy that Ivan Ramljak will be joining us as a guest of the first HARMLESS Film Festival, giving us the opportunity to watch this remarkable film together with its director.
