Celebrate the season of light and share joy with your community! Join artist and educator Brooke Scibelli for a hands-on candle-making workshop. Create two handmade candles: one to brighten your home and one for the Give & Take public art installation outside the Ed Portal. Customize your candles with labels and messages of encouragement.

Help shape the future of Allston-Brighton’s Give & Take: Swap Boxes by sharing ideas for new locations and themes—all while connecting with neighbors and exploring generosity, creativity, and self-care during winter.

All supplies and a light dinner are provided. No experience needed. Please note: this workshop involves handling hot wax. Recommended for ages 12+. Participants under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Brooke Scibelli is the co-founder of Non Issue Studio and a member of the Ed Portal's 2024-25 Artist Pipeline Program.

Optional: Bring

  1. Small wellness and self-care items (eg. candles, face masks, bath & body products, tea, affirmations, tokens of gratitude) for the Comfort Corner
  2. Card games, board games, puzzles, rubber ducks, stickers, lucky charms, toys, fidgets, or figurines for the “Treasure Box”
  3. Handmade or commercial ceramic mugs, cups, bowls, vases or vessels for the Pottery Swap.

Note: Items must be small enough to fit into a microwave sized box. No sharps, no perishables.

This free ticket includes refreshments, all supplies, a gallery visit and networking.
