Artificial intelligence is changing the workplace, and the headlines can make it feel like entire careers are about to disappear. For job seekers, that can add another layer of uncertainty to an already challenging job market.

But how much of that fear reflects what AI can actually do today?

In this Monday Job Seekers Connection session, Arturo Natella, Founder of Amaru, will take a closer look at AI and the workforce — separating some of the biggest headlines and predictions from the current capabilities and limitations of the technology.

The session will then turn to what this means for workers. As AI becomes part of more jobs, what skills become more important? How do you develop those skills? And how can you position yourself to work effectively in a workplace where AI is increasingly common?

During this 90-minute interactive session, you'll:

• Examine some of the biggest claims about AI and jobs and put them into context.
• Learn where today's AI systems are powerful — and where they still have significant limitations.
• Explore why using AI effectively still requires people and human expertise.
• Identify the skills that become increasingly important when AI is part of how you work.
• Learn practical ways to strengthen those skills and become more effective working with AI.
• Consider how those capabilities can help you become more competitive in the workforce.

Whether you're actively looking for work, considering a career change, or trying to understand how AI may affect your current field, this session will give you a more grounded way to think about the technology, your career, and the skills worth developing.

About the presenter:

Arturo Natella is the Founder of Amaru, a Boston-based firm specializing in AI, ML, and quantum technology recruiting, and career coaching for professionals across industries. Arturo started Amaru after seeing how much of hiring and job searching is learned through trial and error — people are expected to know how to navigate the process, but most are figuring it out alone. His path here ran through technology, workforce policy at the Massachusetts State Legislature, and a decade designing hiring strategies for startups and Fortune 500 companies. Through Amaru, he has helped job seekers achieve $1.5 million in aggregate salary attainment. Amaru has been recognized by DAIMLAS (Massachusetts AI Ecosystem). Arturo delivers career and hiring strategy sessions at institutions including the Harvard Ed Portal.

We are about a 15-20 minute walk from the Red Line Harvard Square station or Green Line -B Harvard Avenue station.

Several MBTA buses also stop near the intersection of North Harvard Street and Western Avenue: #66, #86, #70.

If you choose to drive to the Ed Portal please be prepared to utilize the two-hour on-street parking surrounding the Ed Portal or to park at Artesani Park and walk 10-12 minutes along Western Avenue to arrive at the Ed Portal. A limited number of parking spaces are available in the rear of the Ed Portal building on a first come, first serve basis. You may only use parking spaces in the rear of the Ed Portal building outlined in orange paint.
