Talk – Women’s Land Army – ‘The Land Army fights in the fields!’

The Harwich Society are delighted to welcome back Wendy Shepherd for a fascinating look at the vital role played by the Women’s Land Army during the Second World War.

With thousands of men away serving in the Armed Forces, women stepped forward to work on Britain’s farms and help keep the nation fed. Known affectionately as the “Land Girls”, their hard work, determination and contribution to the war effort form an important part of our social history.

Join us as Wendy brings their remarkable story to life and explores the experiences of the women who answered the call to “fight in the fields.”
