Often, we are tasked with using evidence-based practices (EBP) in our work to support student success. It can be difficult to know what constitutes an EBP and which ones really help our students. In this session, we will define EBP and look at the (often hidden) oppressive history of EBP and assessment in schools. In light of that, we will talk about socially just interventions and practices that help students successfully navigate often oppressive educational systems. If your administrators are asking you to implement EBP, this is the session for you. Or, if you are just wondering how to be the most efficient, most impactful school counselor you can be while addressing inequalities in systems and supporting student holistic success - well, you won't want to miss this session either!
