Session Description: How does a comprehensive school counseling program align with a Multi-Tiered System of Supports? This full-day professional development workshop explores the proactive, data-driven role school counselors play within a Multi-Tiered, Multi-Domain System of Supports (MTMDSS) — spanning academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, and college, career, and military readiness.
Aligned with state and national frameworks, this interactive session guides participants through examining every tier and domain of their current counseling program. Using examples and exemplars, participants will identify an area of opportunity and map out a next step to strengthen it, walking away with a plan they can put into action.
Participants will also dig into the three types of school counseling program data (process, perception, and outcome) and how each can be used to demonstrate impact. How are students different as a result of your comprehensive school counseling program? What evidence shows that the program's objectives are being met? Participants will learn ways to collect, analyze, and share counseling program data and results.
Utilizing school counseling program data builds coherence to site and district goals, strengthens programs collaboratively, and increases impact in school communities. Sharing program results also improves legitimacy, builds widespread support, and enhances political and social capital. Sample presentations and easily reproducible templates will be shared throughout.
Join us for an informative, interactive day, and walk away with ideas, strategies, and tools to strengthen your program and showcase the powerful work of school counselors!
