History Tour of the Alexandria Hotel Ballrooms
History Tour of the Alexandria Hotel Ballrooms
Need help?
Step into film history with an exclusive tour of the legendary Alexandria Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
Opened in 1906, the Alexandria was the first five-star hotel in Los Angeles. By the 1910s, it had become the “Plymouth Rock” for East Coast film industry elites migrating west. U.S. Presidents Taft and Wilson walked its halls, Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford charmed its guests, and its ballrooms pulsed with the city's high society until 1921.
But during the Great Depression, the hotel’s fortunes declined sharply. Its once-glamorous history was lost, distorted, or forgotten...until now.
Join Alexandria Hotel historian Craig Owens for a private, one-of-a-kind history tour of the Alexandria’s grand ballrooms and historic lobby. See where Rudolph Valentino danced and Paul Whiteman played. Learn hidden anecdotes uncovered through Craig’s meticulous research.
Tour Includes Access To:
- The former main lobby
- Two historic ballrooms
- The Valentino Suite, now an exclusive VIP venue
Please Note: This is a history only tour. No paranormal content will be included.
