𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘮 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 + 𝘦𝘹𝘩𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘐𝘍 𝘠𝘖𝘜 𝘒𝘕𝘖𝘞, 𝘠𝘖𝘜 𝘒𝘕𝘖𝘞 (night one)

join us for night number one of the 𝘐𝘍 𝘠𝘖𝘜 𝘒𝘕𝘖𝘞, 𝘠𝘖𝘜 𝘒𝘕𝘖𝘞 screening weekend at the tate institute, silvertown.

hayley jay's second documentary examines taboo, belonging and girlhood through six interviews with girls in the free party scene. through two-channel projection, the film questions access, coolness, drugs, hierarchy and class, unpicking the harmonies and imperfections within the illegal party scene. across three months, hayley was invited into the movement, archiving the touching and messy moments. the documentary sees six girls grapple with the morals, judgement and spirituality of partying and mythologise the movement they are a representative of.

the long-awaited screening will happen across two nights, accompanied by an artist introduction, panel talk and Q&A. alongside the dual channel film projection will be a group exhibition showcasing artworks and stalls selling magazines and prints. expect community energy with good wine and beer throughout. reinstate have a bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. DJs will spin free party sounds before and after the screening and talks. 

tickets:

tickets are free to encourage access for all with donations encouraged for those who can. tickets are all sliding scale with the recommended donation as £15. any donation amount goes directly back to venue hire costs and artist expenses.

arrive at 6pm to get seated and catch the artist introduction, the film will be screened once per night.

the venue: 

the REinsTate Project is led by ReSpace Projects. they are a non-profit that specialises in turning empty, derelict buildings into community hubs. historically, the tate institute was constructed in 1887 and was used by the sugar factory workers and their families as a community facility, then a social club and library during world war two. craftory, an artist collective, squatted the building after it fell into disrepair after abandonment in the 90s. they began taking initial steps to regenerate the space with recycled materials, leading to a designation as a locally listed building. photography and filming will occur throughout this event please communicate with staff and volunteers or get in touch via email if you would like to revoke photographic consent.
