Haywards Heath History Hunt – a free family adventure through time!

Residents and visitors are invited to step back in time and explore the hidden stories of the town with the launch of the Haywards Heath History Hunt - an interactive, family-friendly experience running throughout the summer holidays.

With two different routes to choose from, this exciting digital trail takes participants on a journey through Haywards Heath’s past. Discover where the town’s first school and cinema once stood, uncover how Victoria Park became a cherished public space, and reveal fascinating, lesser-known pieces of local history along the way. Each route takes approximately 40 minutes to complete.

Route 1 (Muster Green) is mostly flat, making it accessible for a wide range of participants. Route 2 (Market Place) includes some uphill sections and woodland paths, making it slightly more challenging while remaining suitable for families who enjoy a longer walk and a sense of adventure. Dogs are also welcome to join in and complete the route alongside their owners.

Using their phone, players can follow the trail and earn points by finding locations, answering questions, and completing fun challenges. Compete with friends, family, and the wider community to climb the leaderboard and become a History Hunt champion.

The event is completely free to play and designed for all ages, making it a perfect activity for families, friends, and curious explorers alike. During checkout there is an opportunity to donate to the Mayor's Charity of the Year, Kangaroos. Donations raised will help support their valuable work providing social and recreational opportunities for local children and adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.
