HBAM Challenge 2026

Sun 1 Feb 2026 8:00 AM - Sat 31 Oct 2026 11:45 PM

The HBAM Challenge is back for another year, again with the idea of encouraging you to get out riding and to practice the skills picked up during the IAM Advance Rider Course.

The challenge will run from Sunday 1st February until the end of October 2026.

HBAM Challenge locations map 2026

Essentially it involves riding to pre-defined locations around the UK, taking a selfie to prove the visit and returning the picture to me at the email address noted below. Locations are varied, with several relatively local to our area and some further afield, for the more adventurous!

There is a mix of the obligatory ‘bacon roll’ café stops, several interesting bridges and monument/sculptures and several lighthouse.

Each location visited helps build up a points tally, with the Challenge Trophy being presented during one of the end of season Club Nights, to the rider with the most points! Only one visit per location will count!

Some locations will again include a ‘Local Celebrity’, or 'Bonus' attached, which if found and included in the selfie picture, will attract bonus points! This year there are also bonus points for completing various sets (e.g. all 10 lighthouses).

You will find some of the locations are on the HBAM club rides, or tours, so keep a look out on the Rideouts Box Office too. The rides can be done as part of a group, or solo. You may even find your Observer is also doing the challenge, so it might be possible to combine a local visit with an observed ride. Obviously, this is up to the Observer though!

We already have some willing ‘Celebrities’ lined up, including HBAM Members, Paul Lake in Scotland and Grant Hallworth and Graham Storer in Devon, who are all ready to be tracked down for the extra points!

Once you have registered your interest here, you will be sent a the general HBAM Challenge guidelines, which will include a list of the locations for 2026 and any associated 'Local Celebrities' and 'Bonus' opportunities.

Please remember though that there is no obligation to visit any of the locations and that you remain responsible for your own safety and for complying with the law on all rides.

For all location picture submissions, please send them, with the visit date etc, to: challenge@hbam.org.uk

Any initial questions, please contact Russell Wenman at: chair@hbam.org.uk
