Description
Looking for an exciting and educational way to spend your Saturday morning? Come join us from 10-11 for our monthly Saturday SEAM Series, led by the wonderful Professor Graybeard! Together we will explore a new topic each month, all from the worlds of Science, Engineering, Art, and Math.
September 14th: Owl Pellets
Owls are a very important part of our ecosystem and a few different species call New Braunfels and Comal County home. Studying owl pellets gives us a chance to see what exactly these nocturnal predators are eating. Lab includes: owl pellet, dissection tools, and bone sorting chart.
October 19th: Halloween Science Show
Join us for our annual "Not So Spooky" Super Science Show! We learn about fun and cool ways to add some Science fun to your Halloween Decor!
November 16th: Super Slimy Science
What is slime and where did it come from? We'll answer this question and learn how and why slimes were created and how some are used to help keep our world moving. We will be creating various polymers (fancy word for Slime) using the different types of catalyst found on social media!
December 14th: Santa Science
Join us as we turn Santa's workshop into Santa's Laboratory! We will create some fun Christmas decor using science fun and we can also guarantee a 100% chance of SNOW!
These programs are aimed at students in the Kindergarten-3rd Grade range. During these monthly classes, our SEAM (science, engineering, art, and math) curriculum takes an unplugged approach to learning. Lessons take place in our outdoor pavilion, helping to return students and families to nature. By holding these programs outdoors, children are able to see many of the concepts they're learning in action, not just seeing on a screen or in a book. All activities are hands-on, helping to build a deeper, more tangible connection to science and nature through these programs.
Please call 830-608-8937 or email info@headwatersatthecomal.org for more information or if you have any questions or concerns.
A special thank you to Quiddity for sponsoring this program!
