We are back for the Spring! Come join us for our Preschool Nature Adventure program! Each adventure runs from 9:00-10:00 am and begins with a nature story, followed by a short hike and activity to explore firsthand the natural world around us.
This program is perfect for young explorers 3-6 years old and their grownup. Younger siblings are welcome! Please register all attending in your group.
March 10th: How do Birds Make a Nest? - We will read A Nest That Wren Built, experiment with different beak shapes and nest materials, and look for and listen to springtime birds around the site.
March 24th: What Can We Learn from A Roly-Poly? - We will read Next Time You See a Pill Bug, then we will find, observe, and if you like, hold our local pill bugs.
April 7th: What Happens When it Rains? - We will read Raindrops Roll, predict and test how rain drops move on plants and other materials, and then look for evidence of water around the site.
April 21st: Where are the Bumblebees? - We will read The Bumblebee Queen, make a craft, and observe our native bumblebees at work.
May 5th: What Animals Live at the Headwaters? - We will read Whose Tracks are These?, explore how tracks are made, and look for and identify tracks around the site.
May 19th: How do Insects Use Camouflage? - We will read How to Hide a Butterfly, play a game, observe, and then release some of our native butterflies and other insects.
June 30th: Rocks Rock!- We will be reading What Can You Do With a Rock?, showing off a favorite rock from home, and matching cool rocks, minerals and fossils from our collection! Note: Due to the heat, this last session before the summer break will be 8:30-9:30am!
