Archaeology Mini Camps at Headwaters!

- Ages: Perfect for 4th - 7th graders

Sign up for one day or all three!
Join us for fun and educational half-day outdoor camps where we'll explore how people lived in this area over 8,000 years ago - and what archaeologists have discovered at this very site. Get ready to explore with hands-on learning activities inspired by archaeology, hikes, games, art, and much more!
Camp Themes by Date
October 13th: Indigenous People's Day
- Learn about culture in the past and today
- Special art printing activity with partners from the Indigenous Cultures Institute
October 30th: Survival
- Learn how people survived here thousands of years ago
- Play hunting games and learn about food sources from the Indigenous Cultures Institute
November 11th: History Underfoot
- Learn about what archaeologists found at the Headwaters site and what it tells us
- Use real archaeologist tools to screen for replica artifacts with the Indigenous Cultures Institute
This is a great chance to make friends, work as a scientist, explore outdoors, and get inspired to protect our precious Comal Springs for generations to come. Spots are limited - register today!
Note: This is not an active archaeological dig site. Activities are designed to help campers explore the findings of a major archaeological excavation that took place at Headwaters several years ago.
Scholarships are available for students and families in need of support.
Refunds are available for cancellations with 24 hours notice.
