One Water Program: NBU Water Supply and Planning
Decades of planning, investment, and a diversified water supply have created a strong water future for New Braunfels.
With ongoing drought and continued growth, it’s natural to have questions. This interactive One Water program explores New Braunfels Utilities’ (NBU) water supply portfolio and how our community benefits from long-term water strategies, intentional infrastructure design and improvements, and proactive resource management.
The program brings to life key insights about NBU’s water resource plan, shows how NBU has planned for drought and growth, and provides tools and resources to help ensure reliable water for the New Braunfels community.
Innovation, increased efficiency, and continued conservation efforts will ensure long-term needs are met. Come explore the NBU's water supply portfolio, planned expansions, and current and future demand estimates. We all play a role in keeping our water future strong.

What is One Water?
One Water New Braunfels is collaborative program between New Braunfels Utilities, the City of New Braunfels, and Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority to provide integrated water management that is resilient, sustainable and beneficial to the greater New Braunfels area including upstream and downstream communities. One Water is the mindset that all water has value. From treated drinking water to the rivers running through New Braunfels, all water must be sustainably managed for the benefit of the economy, community, and environment. Learn more about One Water New Braunfels here.
Since 2017 the Headwaters non-profit has been working to connect our community to nature, by showcasing the significance of the Comal Springs, the heart and soul of New Braunfels! Headwaters is a great place to see One Water elements in action: native, drought tolerant landscaping; over 20,000 gallon capacity rainwater harvesting system; green stormwater system; low impact development techniques such as rain gardens and biofiltration basins.
Headwaters is located at 333 E Klingemann St, near downtown New Braunfels.
