From Wildscapes to Formal Landscapes: Natives Can Do Them All

You've probably heard a lot about planting more natives in your landscape to improve the environment, help the Monarchs, or conserve water. Native plants are so much more than just the wildflowers you probably think of first! This class will show how other native plants can be effectively used in landscapes. Join us to see examples of natives in a range of settings, gain some helpful resources, and ask questions.

This class will be led by Deedy Wright, a life-long Texas gardener. Her particular interests are native and invasive plants. She has been an active member of the Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) since 1996. She has completed multiple native plant courses at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center and landscape training at Texas A&M University, along with the Texas Invaders training on invasive plants.

In addition, Deedy was a certified Texas Master Gardener for 15 years in Bexar and Guadalupe Counties, with specialist training in propagation and vegetable gardening.

A retired secondary language arts and social studies teacher, Deedy has taught adult continuing education classes on various gardening topics in the San Antonio area.
