Great Backyard Bird Count

Participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count at Headwaters at the Comal!

Each February, for four days, the world comes together for the love of birds. Over these four dates we invite people to spend time in their favorite places watching and counting as many birds as they can find and reporting them to The Cornell Lab and Audubon. These observations help scientists better understand global bird populations before one of their annual migrations.

It's easy to participate:

1. Download the Merlin Bird ID app or eBird Mobile app.

2. Watch birds for at least 15 minutes in one spot.

3. Count all the birds you see or hear within your planned time/location and use the best tool for sharing your sightings.
