Healing through the Humanities: Student Showcase will be the final event sponsored by the Center for Humanities to conclude the series. The showcase invites the public to an immersive experience exploring how creative and analytical works serve as essential tools for interpreting lived experiences and fostering compassion. The gallery will feature a diverse collection of original student works, ranging from visual art to literary reflections and digital storytelling.
The evening will be hosted by distinguished Narrative Medicine expert Nicole Robinson, MFA. Robinson will provide a keynote address detailing the foundations of narrative medicine and then will subsequently lead a modified workshop, offering attendees a hands-on look at how applied principles and artistic perspectives function to promote healing in community and healthcare settings. This interactive session is designed to:
- Introduce the core concepts explored by students throughout the series
- Provide tools for interpreting student works through a medical humanities lens
- Foster deep, meaningful conversations around sensitive topics
This showcase is open to the public and is intended to serve as a source of knowledge and engagement across diverse communities. Whether you’re a healthcare professional, a student, or just someone who appreciates a good story, we warmly welcome any community members who are interested in how the arts can help us navigate the complexities of health, illness, and human connection.
Limited seats available. Early registration strongly encouraged.
This event will be held on campus in the Ferguson Gallery/Learning Lobby of the LNDL.
