Mindful Photowalk with Celie Nigoumi

Join professional photographer Celie Nigoumi for a gentle Photowalk around Heal Somerset, combining creativity, nature and the simple pleasure of slowing down.

Through a short grounding exercise, you’ll be guided into a more relaxed and attentive headspace before setting off to explore the landscape with your camera. Along the way, Celie will share practical photography and storytelling techniques to help you notice more, see differently and give you confidence to take better photos.

This walk is not about about making perfect photos but more about the joy of looking, practising observation while being present in nature and giving yourself space to switch off from the everyday.

Whether you’re an experienced photographer or simply enjoy taking photos on your phone, come and fill your creative cup, connect with nature and meet others seeking a slower pace of life.

What to expect:

• Meet at the visitor car park at Heal Somerset where you will be directed to our community nature barn for a welcome and introduction with Celie
• Get into a relaxed and inspired headspace through a short grounding exercise
• Be guided through techniques to observe your surroundings with more intention
• Learn what to pay special attention to when taking photos, with insight into storytelling and technical processes
• You’ll have the opportunity to ask Celie any questions as you go and she will offer 1:1 photography support
• The group will finish by chatting about our experience and learnings over a cup of tea, and share the images we made (if we'd like to!)

About your guide, Celie Nigoumi

Celie is an artist and facilitator who finds peace and inspiration when taking her camera on gentle walks in nature. Based in Somerset, she works across the UK as a story-led Photographer for purposeful brands and organisations. Her practice is greatly influenced by the rhythm of nature and her mindful photowalks support others to slow down and re-connect with themselves and fellow creative folk in the outdoors.

LOCATION

Heal Somerset is in a very rural location, a few miles from Bruton, Frome, the A303 and the Wiltshire border, at Lower West Barn Farm, Bindon Lane, Witham Friary, BA11 5HH. Directions will be sent in a confirmation email.

CAMERA, CLOTHING AND OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

Bring whatever camera you enjoy using to make photographs. Phones, digital, compact and film cameras are all welcome. We recommend you  bring a waterproof and a warm layer along with sturdy shoes or boots as thanks to our wild-living beavers, it may be wet underfoot. We will advise on the weather forecast in run up to event.

ACCESSIBILITY

The site is not yet wheelchair-accessible, but we do have one all-terrain mobility scooter available. If you would like to use this, please let us know ahead of the event.

If you use an assistance dog, your dog will be welcome. If you have any additional questions about accessibility please email events@healrewilding.org.uk.

OTHER THINGS

Cancellation

We reserve the right to cancel this event and either refund you or book you into an alternative date. This would be due to a very poor weather forecast or illness and will be avoided unless absolutely necessary. 

Please note, tickets are transferrable but non-refundable unless the event is cancelled.

Photo Disclaimer

Please be aware that photos will be taken during the event, which may be used by Celie and Heal Rewilding for promotional purposes, including on websites and social media platforms. If you prefer not to be photographed, please inform a member of the team before the walk begins.

Children and babies 

Children are welcome on the walk, we advise that the walk is most appropriate for a minimum age of 16 but that is up to the parent or guardian. Babies in slings are welcome to attend for free but the site is not pushchair-friendly in a lot of areas.  Please contact events@healrewilding.org.uk for more information about bringing children and babies. 

Dogs

We welcome assistance dogs but you can't bring a pet dog or any other pets to the site.

Supporting Heal

Please note, 50% of your ticket price will go towards supporting the work of Heal. You'll also have the chance to become a Friend of Heal and to donate to support our work.

Special ticketing

There are four ticket tiers to make this event as affordable as possible. Please choose the ticket you're most comfortable with. If you are unwaged, a student or living on a very low income and the cost of attending is prohibitive, please email events@healrewilding.org.uk as we may be able to support your attendance. Please note this may not always be possible.

Transport

The remote rural location means that travelling here by car is the most practical option and there will be car parking available for all participants.
