Gathering Peer Voices: Employability
Wed 26 Jun 2024 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM BST
St Augustine Church, EH1 1EL
Description
The Peer Community in Edinburgh provides a platform for peer workers, volunteers, and those interested in mental health recovery to connect, share experiences, and contribute to strengthening peer practice. This event will be focused on the theme of employability. We will gather and find out more about current mental health support available in workplaces and share ideas about how organisational cultures can create supportive environments so peers can share their experiences in a safe and supportive manner.
Activities: We will share presentations based on updated information about employment practices and facilitate round table discussions focused on exploring key topics related to best practice when supporting peer workers and volunteers in workplace environments. The event will end with workshops centered around these themes.
Who Can Attend: The event is open to Edinburgh’s peer workers and peer volunteers. We plan to host another event later in the year for team leaders, supervisors and managers of peer services where we will feed back our ideas about the ideal organisational culture for peer workers to thrive. If you're not sure if this is right for you, please feel free to get in touch by email at peer@health-in-mind.org.uk and we'd be happy to discuss.
