Are you or someone you know looking for hope, healing, and freedom from addiction? The Washington Conference warmly invites you to the Fifth Annual Emotional Freedom Retreat, a Christ-centered experience designed to help individuals walk the road to healing. Led by Dr. David Sedlacek and grounded in the Journey to Wholeness 12-step addiction program, this retreat offers a safe, supportive environment for those seeking recovery, renewal, and spiritual freedom. Participants will also be introduced to the NEWSTART principles for whole-person health.
Pastors and leaders: this is a meaningful opportunity to help those in your congregation find support, healing, and encouragement through a trusted recovery ministry.

About the Retreat
The Emotional Freedom Retreat: Walking the Road to Healing guides participants through a meaningful process of self-reflection using Journey to Wholeness, a Christ-centered 12-Step program.
This experience is designed to help individuals identify and overcome self-defeating habits, emotional struggles, and life challenges. It is not a journey toward perfection, but one of growth requiring honesty, willingness, and the courage to be vulnerable in a safe and supportive environment.

Dr. Sedlacek is a Senior Research Associate at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University. He holds a master’s and doctorate in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University, specializing in addiction.
With over 50 years of experience, he has served in leadership roles across detoxification centers, rehabilitation programs, and treatment facilities. His work includes counseling in corrections, inner-city outreach, adolescent aftercare, chaplaincy, and outpatient care.
He has taught in medical and academic settings and serves as a national and international trainer for Adventist Recovery Ministries (ARMin). He is currently the Coordinator of Addiction Services for the North American Division and is actively involved in Journey to Wholeness.
