2026 Yarmouth Chamber Music Festival: Noémie Raymond: cello recital, September 26 & 27
Cellist Noémie Raymond performs the works of Bach, Shostakovich and Brahms assisted by pianist Lan Day.
Acclaimed French-Canadian cellist NOÉMIE RAYMOND is an artist destined to “leave her mark on posterity through her immense sensitivity and immeasurable talent” (Journal des Citoyens). Her career has taken her from London’s Royal Albert Hall to New York’s Carnegie Hall and Berlin’s Philharmonie, as well as concerts in Japan, Cambodia, Chile and elsewhere. Noémie has collaborated with renowned virtuosos such as Midori, Pinchas Zukerman, Jan Lisiecki, Yekwon Sunwoo and Timothy Chooi. As a soloist, Noémie has perfromed with orchestras such as the National Arts Centre, Oakville Symphony, Skagit Symphony, l’Orchestre symphonique de Sherbrooke, and the Carlos Costas Chamber Orchestra. Recognized as one of CBC’s Hot Canadian Classical Musicians under 30, Noémie has taken prizes at the Tremplin International, the Edwin H. and Leigh W. Schadt String International Competition, the Prix d’Europe and the WAMSO Young Artist Competition, and was nominated for the 2026 Opus Awards: Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
LAN DAY began piano lessons in Weymouth, Nova Scotia after arriving as a refugee from Vietnam. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Acadia University, a Master of Music degree in Performance and Literature from the University of Western Ontario, and was a national finalist in the Canadian Music Competition. After moving to Florida in 1998, Lan served as Music Director of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, leading the choir and members of the Naples Philharmonic in Faure’s Requiem and Schubert’s Mass in G. Her most recent Music Director position was at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Greater Naples. Lan was an adjunct professor at Ave Maria University for nine years, teaching piano, chamber music, piano pedagogy, theory and musicianship. Since returning to Canada, Lan has been an active member of the music culture in Yarmouth. She is the director of the Aurora Singers, a madrigal group, which she co-founded with Leslie Robinson in February, 2025.
