Symphony Nova Scotia performs the crowning achievement of Louise Farrenc, one of France’s greatest 19th-century composers, to start their 40th Spotlight season. The expressive and spirited Cello Concerto in C Major, gifted by Haydn to a good friend, will be interpreted by Nova Scotia’s own Denise Djokic. Rounding out the program is Dinuk Wijeratne’s Yatra, a work commissioned to celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial, and a new composition written especially for the 40th season from Symphony Nova Scotia bassoonist Christopher Palmer.
