Sun 19 Jan 2025 10:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Description
Join us for a day of tree planting at the farm and find out about our exciting new nature restoration project for teenagers.
Working in partnership with with Action for Conservation we are inviting young people, aged 12-16, to form a Youth Leadership Group who will plan and deliver nature restoration and regenerative food growing projects at the farm over the next three years to help tackle climate change and aid biodiversity.
Our tree planting day is a chance to come and find out more about who we are and what we do.
We will plant some native saplings and heritage fruit trees, share some hot apple juice and chestnuts roasted on the camp fire and you can craft your own plaque to hang on your tree(s).
Plan of the Day
We will meet at 10.30 and learn a bit about heritage apple trees and why its important to plant fruit and nut trees for the future. We will then spend an hour or two planting native and fruit trees before heading back to the farm yard for some warm apple juice and toasted chestnuts around the campfire.
In the afternoon there will be time to plant some more trees or make a name badge or plaque for a tree you have already planted.
We will gather again to wassail our new trees, protecting them from evil spirits and wishing them luck over their first growing season in their new homes. We will also share some of our warm apple juice with them, a traditional part of wassailing an orchard.
Intergenerational Action for Climate and Nature
This event is part of a three year project in partnership with Action for Conservation and Avon Wildlife Trust and funded through The National Lottery Community Fund to empower and involve young people in building climate resilience by restoring damaged ecosystems. The farm is one of three UK sites that are inviting young people to form a Youth Leadership Group to map and plan restoration actions at the farm over the next three years.
If you are between 12 and 16 years old and would like to get involved in more projects up at the farm chat to us on the day or follow this link https://drive.google.com/file/d/11U8qhiRDsPVwpYWy9h-WQeieTkAA30m3/view?usp=sharing
