Crafts in the Woods - Nettles and netting
Nature-based crafting in a monthly club just for adults.
Join us around the fire in our secluded woodland camp for a peaceful day of crafting. Each session is different as we move through the seasons but includes traditional and heritage crafts, all using natural materials which are often harvested from the farm.
This year activities will include willow weaving, antler carving, leather working, bark basket weaving, coil basket weaving and fibre based crafts. These sessions encourage a genuine connection with nature and can help to improve mental health and wellbeing.
This month we will be working with nettles. Find out how to create string from the bast fibres. This versatile material can be used to create fine, soft thread or really strong cordage. Create your own spool of cord and then learn an ancient netting technique to craft a pouch or basket.
Participants must be 18+
Hot drinks and snacks will be provided but please bring a packed lunch in a bag that is comfy to carry through the woods. Dress for a day outdoors and wear sensible shoes suitable for uneven terrain.
