This evening sees the performance of new music with lyrics by Scottish vocalist, songwriter and lyricist Louise Dodds (Best Vocalist nominee at the Scottish Jazz Awards ’22 and ’23) and music by Azerbaijani pianist, composer and arranger Elchin Shirinov (All About Jazz top 200 living pianists)

The songs have all been written with the theme of ‘Belonging’ at their core, exploring the experience of moving to another country. The songs take you on a journey from leaving loved ones behind to trying to fit in while staying true to yourself, and finding a sense of belonging with another person.

The lyrics will be available in English, Azerbaijani and Italian for audience members to access on their smart phones via a QR code.

The additional songs in this evening’s concert have been written by Louise Dodds and arranged by Elchin Shirinov. They will be joined on stage by Andrea di Biase on double bass and Dave Hamblett on drums.

The songs have been funded by PRS Foundation for Music through their co-commissioning and touring programme Beyond Borders.
