Values, Responsibilities, & Practices Within the Counseling Field
Ethical practice is the foundation of our work as counselors — but how often do we pause to examine the personal and professional values that shape our decisions?
In this thought-provoking CE workshop, join me, Darnell Blocker, as we explore the dynamic relationship between personal values, professional ethics, and the responsibilities we hold within the counseling field. Together, we’ll define core ethical principles, reflect on how our values influence our work, and examine practical strategies for navigating ethical dilemmas with clarity and integrity.
We’ll also explore how values-based decision-making plays a key role in conflict resolution, client advocacy, and maintaining healthy therapeutic relationships. Whether you're early in your career or looking to reconnect with the heart of your professional code, this session offers a valuable space for reflection, learning, and renewed alignment.
Goals:
- To define and identify one’s values and its relation to counseling as an entity and career
- To define and identify various ethics and values within the entity of counseling
- To define and identify the processes within these value systems, approaches toward conflict resolution using values, and clarity within these values
