Sunset bat walk in the Heavens Valley

Wed 9 Sep 2026 8:00 PM - 9:30 PM The Heavens Valley - Bowbridge Lane entrance, https://what3words.com/impeached.browser.scans

We believe the Heavens Valley is home to at least ten species of bats and local ecologist Ivi Szaboova will lead a sunset walk to reveal more about these fascinating and much misunderstood creatures.

Using bat detectors which make the bats' ultra-sonic calls audible to humans, Ivi will be able to identify the individual species, depending on the frequency of their calls. You might hear the 'click' of a pipistrelle or the 'warbling' of a horseshoe bat and - hopefully - see them too.

By the end of the walk you will love bats as much as Ivi does!

Please wear stout footwear as parts of the valley can be uneven and steep in parts. Please note that part of this walk will be conducted in the dark. You are welcome to bring a torch (ideally a red light one if you have one) but please remember to shine on the ground.

Parking around the Bowbridge Lane entrance is limited so please leave in plenty of time.

We expect the event to last between one hour 30 minutes and two hours.

We would like this event to be open for all. We have a number of free tickets available so if you’d like to take part but the entrance fee would be unaffordable right now, please contact info@heavensvalley.org.uk

Come and discover the secret world of the Heavens Valley!
