Heidelberg Materials Chipping Sodbury quarry open day

Join us for a unique opportunity as we open the doors to our Chipping Sodbury operations as part of the town’s annual festival.

What to expect

Indoor exhibits: Inside our regional office at The Ridge, you’ll find a range of stalls where you can learn about the vital minerals that are extracted at the quarry and the wildlife that calls it home.

Members of the Chipping Sodbury team will also be on hand to talk about topics such as geology, blasting and the varied career opportunities we offer.

Quarry floor bus tour: Take a guided minibus tour of the quarry floor and see some of the giant quarry machinery, such as the jumbo Komatsu HD605 dump truck, in action. The bus tour begins and ends at The Ridge offices and is expected to last approximately 30 minutes.

Important information

• Limited parking is available at The Ridge, (situated off the Wickwar road just a 10 minute walk from Chipping Sodbury High Street.) We encourage all those living locally to arrive on foot.
• Tickets are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Limited number available.
• Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate those with mobility issues on the quarry bus tour.
• There will be no pedestrian access direct to the quarry. The quarry bus tour starts and ends at The Ridge.
• No dogs except assistance/guide dogs.
• Please be aware of uneven surfaces. Stout footwear required. No open-toed sandals.
• Please bring proof of booking with you as tickets required for entry.
• Non-ticket holders will not be admitted and no tickets will be available on the gate.
