Harmony Songs in Spanish + Catalan with Mariona Sagarra and Helen Chadwick

I'm delighted to be hosting my friend Mariona Sagarra Trias from Barcelona to co-lead a non residential weekend workshop on Catalan and Spanish songs in July. 

Mariona writes..".I invite you to sing songs in the languages ​​of my homeland. Songs in Catalan and Spanish, it will be a big pleasure share and enjoy all this sounds, vocal colors and beautiful melodies that I hope you will love and they will move you creating very special and beautiful musical and personal experience."

What do I know about Catalan songs you may well ask? Not much. But Mariona does as well as knowing many Spanish harmony songs. For my part, I've set several Spanish and Latin American poems as songs - Lorca, Neruda, Machado and the wonderful Alicia Partnoy who I was lucky to meet. This mix of songs from our hearts will be the content and the joy of the weekend.

Mariona and I met teaching and performing in near Lyon with three other singers, and later I did a guest spot on one of her albums. Mariona has lots of energy and a life long passion and calling for teaching singing, for traditional songs and for performing.

Who Is It For?
The workshop is for those who love to sing in choirs or small groups and for choir leaders
Minimum participants: 18 | Max: 25

Timings

• Saturday 18th July: 10:30 am - 5:00 pm. After a pause for some air or a local meander there will be an optional shared early supper at 6pm.

• Sunday 19 July: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

How We Met

Mariona and Helen met in Lyon on a beautiful a capella project with 4 singers from Italy, the UK, France and Algeria and a choir of women's voices.
