Agriwilding; helping your farm, smallholding, garden and self to thrive

Do you long to see nature restored? To see wildlife thrive around the places where you live and farm — while also creating landscapes that are productive, abundant and useful for human needs? What if both could flourish together?

Join us at Henbant for an inspiring and practical weekend exploring how productive farming and ecological restoration can work hand in hand.

For the past 14 years, Henbant has been using Holistic Management and Permaculture to explore the relationship between food production, profitability and increasing ecological health. Across the farm this has taken many forms: AMP grazing, no-dig market gardening, syntropic and food-forest inspired agroforestry, and farming into woodland glade systems. Together these approaches create a healthy, diverse and productive mosaic that is deeply rewarding to be part of.

This course leans slightly more toward the nature restoration end of the spectrum, while always keeping an eye on how to increase productivity, resilience and ecosystem health at the same time.

Over the weekend we will explore:

  • Clarifying what you want your land and system to achieve
  • The patterns and principles behind productive, ecologically rich systems
  • The basics of Permaculture and working with natural processes
  • Integrating food, woody and fibre crops across the landscape
  • Rewilding principles and how they fit within managed farming systems
  • Monitoring and measuring whether your interventions are genuinely improving the land
  • Connecting your land and projects into the wider community

Expect a thoughtful, grounded and hopeful weekend full of ideas, discussion and practical examples from across the Henbant landscape.
