BOOK LAUNCH and TALK: The Creative Power of Water by Debbie Baxter

Artist and writer Debbie Baxter shares from her book The Creative Language of Water — born from a three‑month journey through Finland’s lakes and waterways, diving deep into wild water as teacher and guide. 

Through story and reflection and images from the trip, Debbie explores what water can show us about flow, resilience, and reflection, and how these qualities can reshape our lives and creativity. She offers simple ways to begin “listening” to water — slowing down by rivers, lakes, or sea, noticing movement, light, and mood, and allowing nature to mirror what’s happening within us.

The talk gently bridges into painting, showing how the same listening that guides us beside water can also guide the creative process: letting land, light, and colour become both inspiration and teacher. Debbie closes with an invitation to continue this conversation with nature through her book and the accompanying painting workshop, The Creative Language of Nature
