A 5Rhythms® Waves weekend in NYC with Tammy Burstein

In the face of uncertainty, of disconnection, of dissolution and dis-ease the practice of the Wave allows the medicine of discovering our core rhythmic language and the remedy how “our” rhythm can learn to communicate with another’s rhythmic tongue. As Gabrielle wrote, “Rhythm is our mother tongue”.

Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms® Wave will leads us in this uniquely personal, embodied journey of self-understanding and transformation. Each time we practice the 5Rhythms we move into a new state of awareness. As our relationship with the Rhythms becomes more intimate, we begin to notice that inside each Rhythm there are endless Waves waiting to be released. Waves where we surrender to the continuous flow of one Rhythm into the next, Waves where we experience the edge of each Rhythm leaning into all the other Rhythms, the wild surrender of every part of our bodies, the lightness of being in every step, and the breath of inspiration in every move.

This deeper practice expands our relationship with all of the Rhythms on the dance floor and in our lives so that we can allow fluidity to waltz with our boundaries, definition to actualize our wanderings and wonderings, expectations to be shattered and re-formed into unexpected possibility, bliss to hold space for authenticity, breath to unite the whole being in all states of being. And, communication to open between comfort zone and alien territory whether within or ourselves or with others. Because to quote Gabrielle, “There’s only one of us here”.

Prerequisite: All are welcome to join. No prior dance or 5Rhythms experience is necessary.
Note: This workshop counts towards 2.5 Days of Waves on the 5Rhythms Teacher training path.

About Tammy: Tammy started practicing the 5Rhythms® in the 20th century,
emerged as a 5Rhythms® teaching at the dawn of the 21st, and has
been living them since before she knew they existed. She is an urban
life form who made New York City her home base and soul inspiration
until 2020, and the mountains of NY State her continuing teacher since
then. An itinerant wonderer she is a 5Rhythms Global and 5Rhythms
Teacher Training teaching staff member, teaching the Waves (2001),
Heartbeat (2010) and Cycles (2015) maps locally and globally. She
has made her living as a dancer, a lighting designer, a travel agent,
and a librarian. She creates her life dancing the 5Rhythms®.

Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support, and to provide a safe space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-walking, rock star part of ourselves that yearns to be free.

By registering for this workshop, I agree to and acknowledge the following.

I acknowledge that I intend to participate in physical activity and agree to assume full responsibility for any risks, injuries or damages, known and unknown, which might incur as a result of participating in the program.

I acknowledge that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 and its variants exists in any public place where people are present. By attending this event, I voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

I agree to release Henya Emmer, Tammy Burstein, Pace University, and 5Rhythms Global from any and all liability related to personal injury or illness that may result from my attendance and participation.

Refunds:

Refunds will be granted, minus booking fees plus a $75 administrative fee, up to 30 days before the workshop.  

Refunds will be granted, minus booking fees plus a $75 administrative fee, up to 14 days before the workshop, if you have a replacement for your spot in the workshop.

No refunds will be granted within 14 days of the workshop. 

Event Cancellation

In the event that we cancel this workshop for any reason: a full refund of the payment received from each participant will be made. The organizers will hold no financial responsibility for the participants’ travel or 3rd party expenses. Every attempt will be made to give as much prior warning of cancellation as possible.
