Her Charity Half Marathon Hike
Join us on our 13.1-mile (21km) charity hike, starting at Silverdale Train Station and finishing at The Birchall Trust, Morecambe!
We are beyond excited to announce our upcoming charity hike, to support the incredible work of The Birchall Trust - a charity that empowers people affected by rape, sexual abuse, or sexualised violence to recover from their trauma so they can lead safe and fulfilling lives.
How to sign up:
1) Secure your space by signing up here on TicketTailor (no fee)
2) Head to our justgiving page to make a £15 (minumum) donation (https://www.justgiving.com/page/her-lancaster?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL)
Her Lancaster is an entirely volunteer-led community group. The full donation amount goes directly to The Birchall Trust.
Once you have signed up, and donated the amount, you're all set! We'll be in touch in early April once we have all our participants signed up! Check out our instagram to see images from last year https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJw_tAaMXVl/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
About our challenge:
To fundraise for and raise awareness of The Birchall Trust, we decided to organise this half-marathon charity hike!
The hike takes a beautiful route, following the coastline and the Lancaster canal in sections. A route map will be provided for participants, which roughly follows the direction: Silverdale → Warton Crag → Carnforth → Hest Bank → Morecambe. The terrain is a mixture of woodland footpaths, fields, gravel canal paths and paved sections, it has hilly sections and a number of gates and stiles. The route will be guided by the Her Lancaster team, so no participant navigation is required.
📅 Date: Saturday 25th April 2026
⏰ Start Time: 9:30 AM
🚶♂️ Length: 13.1 miles | 21 km
⏳ Predicted Duration: 6 hours 30 minutes (including breaks)
📍 Start Location: Silverdale Train Station
🏁 End Location: The Birchall Trust, Morecambe
We are so thrilled that our friends at Birchall will be hosting us at the end of the walk! We will be celebrating at their space in Morecambe, as the perfect place to congratulate one another on our achievements and to remind ourselves who our hard work was for!
For getting to the start point, we recommend getting a lift, sharing a taxi, or getting the train. There is a train from Lancaster → Silverdale at 9:00am on 25th April, which arrives in time for the walk start and costs around £5 for a single ticket. From Lancaster, a taxi costs £25 which is made affordable by sharing with fellow hikers.
On the day:
- Wear walking boots, trail shoes, or trainers with grip. The route is 90% off road, with some wooded and rocky sections.
- Bring lunch + lots of snacks! We will be out from breakfast until dinner time, so bring a good packed lunch and at least two large bottles of water.
- Pack additional layers, any medication you require and a waterproof too
