BUILDING FOUNDATIONS
Whether you're a seasoned vet or a total bike n00b, it pays to learn some basic bike maintenance.
Punctures are very often the first real obstacle a rider will encounter - we'll cover how to fix those, and much more.
The more you understand your bike, the more likely you are to ride it!
INTRODUCTION TO BIKE MAINTENANCE
We will cover how to...
- use tools
- prevent punctures
- replace an innertube
- keep tabs on your bike
- clean your bike
By the end of this 4 hour class you will have more confidence in yourself, your abilities, your kit, and your bike.
You'll be mentally, physically, and bicycally prepared for whatever comes your way.
This is a hands-on class, you will be working on your own bike. Class numbers capped at 3 to make sure you get personal attention and time to practice.
What to bring:
- your bike
- a pen/paper to take notes
- any tools you may have (hex keys, multi-tool, etc)
PREREQUISITES: You must be 18+
By the end of our session you'll be excited to get your next puncture!

About Your Instructor
Jenni Gwiazdowski is a bike mechanic, instructor, published author, serial entrepreneur, and cat herder. She has seen some things and is here to teach you all about it! She set up and ran the London Bike Kitchen from 2012-2025, wrote the book How to Build a Bike, and runs a Saddle Library (coming soon to HHV). She's now the Operations Manager / Mechanic / Marketer / Janitor at Herne Hill Velodrome. Her raison d'etre is to get more people cycling more of the time, in order for bikes to take over the world.
