SHUT UP AND PLAY is an artist-led festival in the heart of South-East London centring queer women and non-binary artists at AMP Studios from 10th-11th of July. Live music, art, food + drink , DJs, all under two railway arches minutes walk from Queen’s Road Peckham and New Cross Gate.
Featuring Mesadorm, Woom, bb sway, Pecq, Bad Honey, Genevieve Dawson, Midori Jaeger, Abimaro, Marie Bashiru, Fiona Bevan, Samantha Whates and Queer House Party DJs!!
We believe that good music thrives when artists are paid properly, we cut out the (middle)men and build supportive, accessible, inclusive spaces for audiences and artists alike. All profits from the festival will go towards funding new music by emerging artists through Hertha Records.
Featuring the most exciting emerging talent and established artists in London right now plus; an exhibition of work by abstract artist Kate Burling, an archival exhibition exploring the history of black people in British folk music by Marie Bashiru, an artists' market with works by local artists, a wood-fired pizza truck, and plenty of space to chill out surrounded by the lights and plants of AMP Studios.

COVID SAFETY
Held at AMP Studios a short walk from New Cross Gate and Queen’s Road Peckham stations - this will be a socially distanced, seated event. The stage is under a railway arch with a large open arch-door. There will be plenty of space and a very limited number of tickets to ensure safety. If you can't make it in person, we would love you to join us virtually on the livestream which will be in high quality hd sound and visuals, brought to you by JMNI for the duration of the festival (you'll probably get a better view than us).
HERTHA RECORDS
Started in 2020 by a collective of artists with a similar tenderness, honesty and desire for artistic autonomy, Hertha functions on the principles of a feminist business prototype. If you would like to be involved in the development of Hertha, get in touch with us, we would love to hear from you.
Shut Up and Play is the first festival presented by Hertha Records - and follows years of regular nights under the same name run from cafes in New Cross which brought together emerging artists from the Goldsmiths, Trinity College of Music and the local scene to try out new material in a supportive environment.
** please note, due to Covid, Amaroun and Charlotte Spiral are no longer able to perform. They have been replaced with WOOM and bb sway. **
** Due to very limited capacity we can offer exchanges of tickets for livestream tickets or a name change, but cannot offer full refunds**
