Northumbrian Winds

The Abbey is delighted to welcome back Northumbrian Winds for their annual concert. For 2026 they bring "Music for All", featuring favourites from Chicago, the thrilling Ignition, big band swagger of Jitterbug, Cats, and a raising finale with the 1812 Overture!

Northumbrian Winds is a vibrant, project-based symphonic wind orchestra bringing together nearly 60 passionate brass, woodwind, and percussion musicians from across the North East of England. Founded in January 2023 under the baton of Andrew Taylor, the ensemble focuses on high-quality collaboration, cultural exchange, and performing in historic, spiritual spaces.

Under Andrew Taylor's direction, their music spans powerful symphonic wind compositions, cinematic scores, traditional Northumbrian folk tunes, and major classical works.
