British Museum’s Egyptian Collection with Alec Nacamuli

Discover the British Museum’s stunning Egyptian collection

The tour will include a geographic and historical overview of Ancient Egypt, the history and narrative behind the major statues, reliefs and exhibits including Ramses II, the Abu Simbel temples and the Rosetta stone. We will also hear about the beliefs and rituals surrounding the life and afterlife of ancient Egyptians.

Our guide Alec Nacamuli was born and grew up in Alexandria which he left aged 13 after the Suez crisis. A retired IT executive, he is now a volunteer guide at the British Museum covering the Egyptian, Islamic and Money galleries. Alec is a member of HGS u3a and regularly talks at the Cinema group.

We will meet on Tuesday 29 September at 11 by the equestrian statue behind the Information Desk in the Great Court. Please allow time to go through security. The tour lasts approximately 1 hr 15 min.
