London Zoo

HGS u3a are delighted to offer HGS u3a members a chance to visit London Zoo at a greatly reduced price of £7 under the Zoo's Community Access Scheme. Tickets would be about £28.50 normally.  

Itinerary: Ron Dellal is organising this trip. Meet him outside the  main entrance on Outer Circle, Regents Park at 11 am. The nearest tube stations are Camden Town (Northern Line) and Regents Park (Bakerloo Line) both around a 25 minute walk away. Bus numbers 274 and 88 stop near the Zoo. See "the Plan" below.

Booking: When you book you will need your membership number (from the email) and a next-of-kin/emergency phone number. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis. You must be an HGS u3a member to join this visit.

The Plan: Once in, you can wander at will or join Ron for selected highlights:

• Land of the Lions
  A short walk from the entrance with plenty of shaded viewing areas.
  Elevated platforms allow seated viewing of the lions without long walks.
  Good early‑day stop before crowds build.

• Butterfly Paradise
  Warm, humid indoor space—excellent for seniors who prefer gentle environments.
  Benches inside allow slow, restful viewing.

• Coffee break, self-pay lunch at Terrace Restaurant or picnic all optional

• Gorilla Kingdom
  Indoor and outdoor viewing areas with seating.
  Short walking loop; shaded paths.
  Gorillas are usually active mid‑afternoon.

• Reptile House
  Fully indoors, level flooring, and many benches.
  A calm, slow‑paced exhibit perfect for older visitors.
  Famous for its historical architecture.

• Aquarium
  Cool, quiet indoor space with gentle lighting.
  Short corridors and plenty of railings for support.
