We are delighted to announce that we are working with Historic England to offer heritage specific Carbon Literacy training courses to Historic Houses members open to the public. These courses (which are comprised of two, half-day sessions delivered online) are accredited by the Carbon Literacy Trust and aim to support heritage organisations in preparing themselves to reduce their carbon emissions and move towards becoming net zero.

This is a heritage-specific Carbon Literacy course, and will use tailored case studies and examples collected from heritage organisations. The course will cover (broadly):

Module 1

  • Introduction
  • Climate change science
  • Impact

Module 2

  • The role of heritage organisations
  • Climate justice
  • Co-benefits

Module 3

  • The policy position
  • Carbon footprints
  • Low carbon heritage organisations

Module 4

  • Action planning
  • Having conversations
  • Wrapping up

This course will run 9.30am-1pm, on Tuesday 6 February and Thursday 8 February 2024.

Courses are free to delegates apart from a £10 fee per delegate for Carbon Literacy certification.
