Discover Higher Farm

Nestled in 100 acres of beautiful Cheshire countryside near Knutsford, Higher Farm is a unique education, wellbeing, and activity centre set on a working equine farm. We combine the power of nature, animals, and hands-on experiences to create opportunities for learning, growth, and fun in a safe, welcoming environment.

As an Alternative Provision setting, we support young people with SEND aged 14 and over through tailored programmes in Equine and Small Animal studies, offering recognised City & Guilds accreditations. We also provide outreach programmes for young people in mainstream education and Animal-Assisted Intervention sessions designed to re-engage learners, build confidence, and foster emotional wellbeing. Our goal is to help young people feel empowered, capable, and connected to learning in meaningful ways.

Beyond education, Higher Farm welcomes schools, community groups, charities, families, and individuals to explore and enjoy a range of immersive experiences. Our woodland sessions allow participants to develop practical bushcraft skills such as fire lighting, campfire cooking, shelter building, and nature exploration. These activities promote confidence, resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving, all within a safe and supportive outdoor setting.

Our activity programmes are designed to challenge, inspire, and energise. Through games, outdoor learning, leadership tasks, and creative activities, participants build confidence, cooperation, and personal skills while having fun.

Animals are central to everything we do. From small pets to larger farm residents, our animal-assisted sessions harness the calming and therapeutic effects of interaction, encouraging mindfulness, emotional regulation, and a sense of connection.

At Higher Farm, we believe in the transformative power of nature, connection, and meaningful activity. Our centre provides an inclusive, welcoming space where people of all ages and abilities can explore, learn, play, and enjoy authentic experiences. Whether for education, wellbeing, or adventure, Higher Farm is a place where every visit is memorable, inspiring, and life-enriching.
