Mountain biking after dark is such a unique thrill that all riders should experience.  Familiar trails appear different and it's almost like riding it for the first time again! Technical trail features can appear much bigger than they really are and your riding speed seems magnified.

Who's it for: This ride is suitable for riders with good experience riding at Level 4. Riders will be confident on blue and red trails and experience of riding natural singletrack trails. Riding at night can put additional stress on riders. Confidence being outdoors in the dark is great but previous night riding experience is not required. Please get in touch with us if you're unsure of suitability.

What will we be riding: Mixed surfaced forest tracks and singletrack trails. The specific route we ride depend on the group, weather and trail conditions.

MTB-specific light hire is included and will last the entire ride on full power. Both a handlebar and helmet mounted light is provided. Some helmets aren't compatible with our helmet mounts; full face helmets will not be compatible. Helmets with three or more vents along the width of the helmet are perfect. If your helmet isn't compatible with our mounts we can either provide a helmet that is compatible or we may be able to attach the light mount with zip ties. Getting everyone's lights set up can take around 10 minutes so a warm jacket to wear before we get riding is essential.

Riders can use their own lights provided they are at full charge and meet the following specs:
Bar mount - min 1600 lumen, min 3 hour burn time
Helmet mount - min 500 lumen, min 2 hour burn time

If your lights do not meet these specs you will need to use our lights.

Max 4 participants.

What do I need to bring: Your bike, helmet, gloves, extra layers, change of clothing, lunch, plenty drinks & snacks and a small rucksack to carry it in when out riding. Remember any medication, inhalers, epipens etc. Excess items can be left in the van when out riding. Bikes, helmets, gloves and knee pads are available for hire.
Night ride specific kit: A small torch/headtorch and a warm jacket - both to be taken when riding.

Start/finish location: Public Car Park, Balconie Street, Evanton. The car park has street lighting which enables us to get lights fitted easily. View on Google Maps.
