"Who Am I?" - weekend workshop with Jayachitta
Sat 15 Jun 2024 10:30 AM - Sun 16 Jun 2024 4:30 PM
Highland Buddhist Centre, IV1 1LP
Description
All welcome! Suitable for all physical abilities.
Sat 10.30am - 4.30pm
Sun 10.30am - 4.30pm
The workshop runs over two days.
To be alive is to be related. What we call ‘I’ and what I call ‘you’ are both vehicles of that relating. They are a play between our experiences of being in this world with others.
In movement and in meditation, we will start to listen and to play. We will experience ourselves in the world as part of the world, rather than engaging in talking about the world.
In this way we discover that our life, our experience is always new and always fresh.
Jayachitta has followed a Buddhist practice since 1981 and was ordained in 1990. She has lived and worked with other Buddhists for a lot of that time, and now lives in Berlin. More info on Jayachitta's work here. She enjoys the practice of body-based methods to deepen experience of meditation and attending to the mind. Having trained in physical theatre and improvisation for over 25 years, she uses them as additional approaches to the spiritual life, based on embodied experience and play. www.playofnow.com
What do I pay to attend?
This practice weekend runs on the basis of dana (generosity), like all our events. When those who are able donate generously, it enable those with less financial resources to freely attend. There is a suggested amount of £80-100 for the weekend but please give whatever you can afford (whether more or less) to help us continue to run events for the benefit of our community. Your donation will help cover our centre costs and help support Jayachitta's work (Jayachitta does not have other independent means of financial support). Regardless of donation amount you are welcome to attend this event (eg if you're unable to donate anything). You can book and choose an amount to donate online when you choose to "Join the Guestlist".
