“Unrest was stirring across the Isle. I could sense something big was about to happen…”
Morgan Mackinnon worked the Skye ferries for 35 years until they stopped. Now, he scrapes a living guiding, singing and telling stories about the history, myths and legends of the Skye Bridge region whilst relating his own fascinating life story.
It is 30 years since the Skye Bridge opened, and Skye Bridge Studios is recreating their very first production The Tales of The Last Ferryman by Joe Plumb, which was promenaded around Kyleakin in 2021. Now in 2026 Morgan the ferryman recalls the legends of the land from Vikings to giants; he weaves in his own story leaving Wales to search out the Scottish ancestry of his father, which brought him north in the first place. From 1980 he worked on the ferries until they stopped, but unlike the ferries, he never left.
Written by Joe Plumb, adapted by Jonathan Supper
Starring Llion Williams (Mystery Files (2010), Itopia (2022) and Hidden (2018), The Stickmaker Tales National Theatre Wales (2017/2019) and I am Lloyd George (2024/25))
