'An Apple a Day' Drawing Workshop
Sat 5 Oct 2024 10:00 - 12:00
Hill Close Gardens, CV34 6HF
Description
‘To see the world transformed into two dimensional images with a 2B pencil, is to witness a form of magic’ (L. Cummins)
In this workshop we will be exploring ‘chiaroscuro’, or the study of light and shade and the ways that this can make objects appear three dimensional on paper. The ‘objects’ will be apples - we have lots of those at Hill Close Gardens! Rather than creating a finished composition, you will work on a study sheet that explores how you can achieve ‘roundness’ and surface qualities in both black and white and colour. Your observations are potentially transferable to other subjects and compositions and we will be looking at a range of artists for light inspiration.
All materials will be supplied but do feel free to bring along any favourite drawing materials you have. The ticket also includes entrance to the gardens, coffee, tea and biscuits. All proceeds go to support Hill Close Gardens.
